Over the various eras of Springbok rugby, there have been some unforgettable ‘family affairs’ that have seen various brothers all earning national honours in the green and gold.
In fact, there are families who have actually had three brothers who have played for the Springboks.
Perhaps the most famous trio is that of Carel du Plessis, Michael du Plessis and Willie du Plessis. There has also been John Luyt, Dick Luyt and Lammetjie Luyt, as well as the Bekkers: Martiens, Dolf and Jaap. The most modern-era trio is that of Dan du Preez, Jean-Luc du Preez and Robert du Preez Jnr.
These four trios form part of an incredible total of 36 brothers who have featured for the Springboks.
From Naas Botha and Darius Botha, to Pieter Rossouw and Chris Rossouw, to Bismarck du Plessis and Jannie du Plessis, to the current brothers Jaden and Jordan Hendrikse, there have been some incredible sibling duos who have featured for the Springboks.
