The Bulls come into this weekend’s clash against the Lions still well-positioned in third place on the URC log, but Jake White’s team will have been chastened by the unexpected loss suffered at home to the Sharks last Saturday.

By contrast, the Lions will be buoyed after a good win over the Stormers, but they still dwell down in 12th place on the standings – albeit having played a couple games less than most other teams.

It all makes for what should be a thrilling battle between the Bulls and Lions on Saturday, which is in fact the only fixture in the URC this weekend.

Kick off in Pretoria is at 14:00 on Saturday, 22 February.

HERE IS HOW THE LATEST URC LOG LOOKS AS THE BULLS AND LIONS PREPARE FOR URC BATTLE

Looking ahead to the clash at Loftus, Bulls hooker Johan Grobbelaar said the team was determined to be as clinical as possible.

“It’s something we’ve spoken about – when we’re on top of a team we have to bury them, and we haven’t done that well enough the last couple of weeks,” the Springbok hooker commented.

“It’s about staying focused and not letting them in [through] the back door at the end of the game. We saw it in the [URC] final last year.

“Whether it’s those players coming off the bench or a lack of concentration, it’s definitely something we’re going to have to fix going forward in this competition.

“As you saw with the tries the Lions scored last week they’ve got amazing pace in the outfield. We’re going to have to keep a solid defensive line and our width, and not give away any soft shoulders,” Grobbelaar added. “They always have a good set piece so we’ve got to be on top of our game.”
