Jake White has bolstered the Bulls’ pack with the inclusion of a Springbok forward in the run-on team for the game against the Stormers in Pretoria.

The change at the back of the scrum sees former Springbok Nizaam Carr start in the No 8 jersey ahead of Mpilo Gumede, who drops to the bench.

Elsewhere, another Springbok Akker van der Merwe will mark his return from injury with an appearance off the bench as the replacement hooker.

Meanwhile, Jan-Hendrik Wessels, who covers prop and hooker, was named among the reserves as the expense of Alulutho Tshakweni, who drops out of the Bulls’ match 23.

“I just wanted some fresh legs,” explained coach Jake White. “I want to give Nizaam a bit of a start as well. He knows the Stormers too [having played for them before], so I’ve got a feeling he’ll probably put up a little bit extra as well.”

Bulls – 15 Devon Williams, 14 Sebastian de Klerk, 13 Stedman Gans, 12 David Kriel, 11 Canan Moodie, 10 Willie le Roux, 9 Embrose Papier, 8 Nizaam Carr, 7 Reinhardt Ludwig (c), 6 Marco van Staden, 5 JF van Heerden, 4 Cobus Wiese, 3 Wilco Louw, 2 Johann Grobbelaar, 1 Gerhard Steenekamp.
