The Blitzboks thumped Ireland 28-7 to make it two from on the opening day of the Vancouver Sevens.

The South Africans enjoyed a dream start to this encounter when Davids effortlessly glided through the Irish defence within seconds of kick-off to score a superb try.

The playmaker then worked his magic to set-up Soviwe Soyizwapi for the second try. And Ronald Brown was on hand to knock over both conversions to give the Blitzboks a handy 14-point head start. Ireland did hit back via a converted effort by Josh Kenny on the stroke of half-time, but that is as good as it got for them.

The Blitzboks tightened the screws in the second half on both sides of the ball, adding two tries thanks to their attacking flair and conceding none courtesy of their gut-busting defence.

Ricardo Duarttee crossed for a self-converted try before Sebastiaan Jobb applied the finishing touches with a fourth and final try.

The Blitzboks are now sit prettily at the top of the log as the only unbeaten team left in Pool B, after New Zealand beat Australia.

Earlier in the day, the Blitzboks did just enough to see off New Zealand in their opening game, while the Aussies took down Ireland in their tournament opener.

The Blitzboks will wrap up their Pool B schedule at 21h36 on Saturday night with a showdown against Australia.
