The Cape Town Sevens is back, and it’s set to be another festive occasion at the DHL Stadium as the Blitzboks hunt for victory in front of their passionate home fans.

A new format will be utilised in Cape Town, and so there will be no room for error as each team will play only two pool matches on Saturday, with the four pool winners progressing directly to the semi-finals.

In contrast to the conventional format, where the top two teams in each pool advance to the quarter-finals, the format change places a premium on every pool match as teams that lose will be unlikely to advance to the Cup playoffs on Sunday.

Blitzboks Pool C fixtures (Saturday):
11:44: Ireland
18.41: Argentina

In team news, Mfundo Ndhlovu makes a welcome return to the Springbok Sevens squad in Cape Town this weekend, while the uncapped Zander Reynders has also cracked the nod.

Their inclusion is the only change from the squad that played in the season opener in Dubai last weekend, where both Ryan Oosthuizen and Christie Grobbelaar picked up injuries which ruled them out of the home leg of the world series.

The Blitzboks squad for Cape Town Sevens:

#3 Impi Visser (co-captain)– 40 tournaments, 205 points (41 tries)
