The Blitzboks will face France or Australia in the Cup semi-finals after thrashing Fiji 19-0 in the quarters on Saturday afternoon.

The Blitzboks return to action on Sunday morning after at 9:27am in their last four showdown.

Shilton van Wyk opened the scoring with a magical team effort on the right flank, where they shifted the ball through the series of offloads and pop passes. And they again, this time via the individual brilliance of Selvyn Davids, who outpaced two Fijians to recollect his own grubber kick to score.

The Blitzboks thought for all money that they had a third try in the bag when Quewin Nortje freed up van Wyk for after receiving a cross-field kick pass, but the touchdown was disallowed as replays confirmed Nortje brushed the touchline with his right foot.

Joji Nasova was sent to the bin for throwing the ball away to prevent the Blitzboks from taking a quick lineout, forcing the Fijians to play out the final minutes of the opening stanza with six men.

Fiji struggled to get a foothold in the game as South Africa’s relentless defence and excellent breakdown work continued in the second half.

The Blitzboks then conceded a yellow card, but going a man down didn’t deter the brave South Africans. They continued to launch wave after wave of attack and were rewarded with a penalty try when Iowane Teba laid into Nortje from an offside position to prevent him from scoring.

The result sees the Blitzboks extend their winning streak against Fiji to four.
